Indiana University has partnered with Handshake to help you find jobs and internships, attend career events and fairs, and meet with your career coach. After you register for classes at New Student Orientation, you'll have access to set up your Handshake account. Setting up your profile is a quick process. Check out the following instructions on how to get started.

Okay, iubloomington.joinhandshake .com. Just had to say it one more time. So like I said, you already have an account.Everyone as a student at IUB, as soon as you register for classes here at IU Bloomington, you are created an account within48 hours of that registration period. You might have heard us talk about it at orientation over the summer. And at that point, you might not have had an account. But after you registered for your class, it automatically created one for you. So that arrow, pretend it's pointing to the current IUB student staff IU email only box. That is what you're going to select and then log in with those IU credentials. If this is your first time on Handshake, it's going to ask for a few different or it's going to offer a few different things, ask for a few things. So it's going to want to start building your profile for you. These are questions that are going to be important and it's important to build your profile. But. But for the purpose of today, if you're not really feeling like job searching at the moment, you can skip past these, but just always make sure you go back to them. But the first things that are going to come up, what kind of jobs are you into, which jobs sound interesting where are you open to working, just questions and no matter what you answer, you can always change that later. So then once you get through that it's going to talk to you about visibility. So the default for everyone who is creating a Handshake is that it is a public profile Now, this does not mean that everyone can see everything, but this is how it starts out. The visibility, as you can see on this one is set to community so anyone can see it, anyone can message you, you can post in content, just because your profile is public does not mean every piece on your profile is public. So they might not be able to see things that you've uploaded if you upload a resume, for instance, that is something that you can still have for that is something you can still keep private. If you'd rather keep it private for now, by all means, go ahead and set it as private, you can always go back and change this.
Go to https://iubloomington.joinhandshake.com and click "Indiana University - Bloomington Login." Then log in using your IU username and passphrase.
Select the visibility of your account.
- "Community" makes your account visible to everyone on Handshake and allows you to message students and alumni with similar experience.
- "Employers" makes your account only visible to employers.
- "Private" allows you to browse and apply for jobs, but you will not be contacted by employers, students, or alumni.
Handshake will ask you a few questions about what type of job or internship you're looking for, your location, and which opportunities seem interesting to you. These questions will improve Handshake's recommendations, although you may skip this step if you wish.
After this, your account will be set up and you can begin using Handshake.
